Randy Highland, president, and Mark Mardock, executive vice president, California Region of McCarthy Building Companies, were first introduced to Taller San Jose in 2003 by Richard Heim, president and CEO of Clark Construction Group. Richard asked them to join him on Taller San Jose’s Construction & Green Technology Academy Advisory Board.

Over the past six years, McCarthy Building Companies has hired seven Taller San Jose graduates and continues to strengthen its partnership with Taller San Jose. “McCarthy is proud to partner with Taller San Jose and do our part to help those less fortunate in the community. The young people that we have hired from Taller San Jose are eager to learn and have proven to be dedicated, hardworking employees,” says Mark.

As a member of the Construction Academy’s advisory board, Mark recruits other employers to get involved. He hosts the annual Builder’s Lunch at Taller San Jose along with Clark Construction Group, Hensel Phelps Construction Co. and PCL Construction Services, Inc. This event is invaluable to the organization as it raises funds for Taller San Jose’s job training programs, provides links to employment for graduates and introduces other potential partners to the organization.

Taller San Jose is grateful to McCarthy Building Companies for their help in building a foundation to provide brighter futures for the unskilled and unemployed youth of our community and is proud to recognize them as our Best of Friends Honoree at this year’s 17th annual Light Up A Life gala.
